Suns-Trail Blazers announcers: Who is calling the NBA play-in game?

Tuesday night's late-evening Western Conference play-in game between the Phoenix Suns and Portland Trail Blazers should be a doozy. That's because both teams had surprisingly competitive seasons.

In one corner, you have the resurgent Phoenix Suns, who max out on effort and defensive play while relying on franchise talisman Devin Booker to carry the offensive load. In the other, you have the Trail Blazers, who last made the playoffs at the start of this decade. Winning tonight in the No. 8 vs. No. 7 game might just be how Portland ends that extended postseason drought.

Who has the call for this play-in matchup? It will be legendary play-by-play announcer Kevin Harlan. His color analyst partner will either be WNBA legend Candace Parker or former NBA player Jim Jackson. Please note that whoever doesn't work with Harlan on Tuesday will be alongside him for the L.A. Clippers vs. Golden State Warriors matchup on Wednesday night. hiddenlangkawi.club

Have fun with the game, dearest readers!

Xavier center Kason Westphal to return to Musketeers

Xavier freshman Kason Westphal will return to the Musketeers, the school announced on Tuesday, April 14.

Westphal, a 7-foot center, redshirted this season. He was the only high school recruit on Xavier's roster after he committed to the Musketeers in April.

A native of Salida, Colorado, Westphal left his hometown to play for Fear of God Athletics, an affiliate of Overtime Elite located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in 2025.

Freshman center Kason Westphal redshirted this season for Xavier.

He played 11.6 minutes per game off the bench with Overtime Elite and averaged 3 points and 4.1 rebounds.

Before that, he averaged 15.1 points and 10.7 rebounds per game for Salida High School during the 2023-24 season.

Xavier's 2026-27 roster is now up to nine scholarship players. There are three returns with Westphal joining Jovan Milicevic and Gabriel Pozzato. As of now, Xavier has three incoming transfers in Rubén Dominguez, Tru Washington and Mike Nwoko. There's also the three-person Class of 2026 in Kalek House, Asher Elson and Gedeon Basson.

NJ Transit reportedly planning to charge $100 for World Cup train tickets

The 2026 World Cup in the U.S., Canada and Mexico has essentially turned into a social experiment as to how much FIFA and its contemporaries can extract financially from fans.

We're getting to the point where no aspect of this World Cup is safe from price gouging. And that seems to include public transit.

How does a $100 train ticket to Metlife Stadium (soon to be renamed New York New Jersey Stadium) sound? Well, fans looking to travel to the venue from New York's Penn Station should be prepared to pay that drastically hiked fare come World Cup time, according to The Athletic.

The 18-mile rail journey, which includes a stop at Secaucus station, ordinarily costs $12.90 for a return ticket — the same pricing for the FIFA Club World Cup final last summer. The new special event pricing, however, is due to come into effect for the World Cup and is currently due to be over $100.

A seven-fold increase in train tickets would be just another blow in an apparent effort to price out fans from enjoying the first U.S. World Cup since 1994.

A spokesperson for NJ Transit did offer a loose denial to that price point, insisting that the train cost wasn't finalized yet. Via The Athletic:

“The ticket prices for match day travel have not been finalized and any reference to cost would be unconfirmed speculation.”

“However, as the Governor clearly stated at an earlier press conference this morning with NJ Transit, the cost for the eight matches will not be borne by our regular commuters.”

We'll have to see if NJ Transit walks back from what would be another objectively anti-fan decision.

How the Rams can land WR Carnell Tate or LB Sonny Styles

At No. 13, the odds are slim that the Los Angeles Rams can land either Ohio State receiver Carnell Tate or inside linebacker Sonny Styles in the 2026 NFL Draft. Both are projected to go in the top 10, and it would take an unlikely fall for the Rams to draft either with their current first-round selection.

While a trade-up is unlikely, several options could unfold that would vault L.A. into striking distance for some of these marquee players. And while The Athletic's Nate Atkins doesn't think the Rams will part with their 2027 first-round pick, he did map out two scenarios that could land the Rams a pick high enough to draft either OSU star.

Based on the Jimmy Johnson trade value chart, the Rams can get as high as the No. 8 pick by offering this year’s second-rounder, based on value. They can maybe add a little more to get to No. 6 from the Cleveland Browns, who seem like a strong trade-back option. That feels like the range where Tate and Styles are most likely to go. And that’s where the positions matter a ton.

The No. 61 is valuable, but the Rams may prefer to take a blue-chip player rather than wait for what comes to them at No. 13 and then guess with their second-round pick. Without many clear needs except receiver and linebacker depth, either Tate or Styles would be ideal selections to upgrade the roster immediately.

General manager Les Snead is no stranger to trades and already sent the team's original No. 29 pick to the Kansas City Chiefs for cornerback Trent McDuffie. Moving up five spots to secure a true heir to the WR2 role behind Davante Adams and Puka Nacua might be worth the cost of the No. 61 pick, as would adding a potentially generational linebacker piece for the defense.
